Craft Britannia Shop of The Week #67, HaleyHandCraftedLove
This week our CraftBritannia Shop of the Week is HaleyHandCraftedLove, where Haley sells her handmade ceramics and textile gifts.
Describe your “typical” working day or week
I dont have a typical day, everyday is different. I do have to take care not to spend too many hours on the computer, especially on Pinterest and Instagram! Addictive fun 🙂
What was the first piece you ever sold?
My first Etsy sale was a Terracotta Home Sweet Home House Hanging. It was a great feeling getting that first sale on Etsy!
What advice would you give someone taking up your craft for the first time?
If you start ceramics, my advice would be play and experiment. You might find you work big or work small as I do. Find out if an Adult Education Centre near you runs courses, as that is a brilliant way to start.
What material do you most enjoy working with?
I love working with Porcelain, but at the same time I can hate it! It cracks very easily and has a fantastic memory of its own, and can object to being made into certain things -weird. But it does give me a lovely pure white surface to work with.
If you could try a new craft, what would it be?
If I could try a new craft it would either be printing or silver jewellery making.
Which piece of equipment would you be helpless without?
My main piece of equipment I could not be without is my little kiln. I was made redundant a few years ago and invested in my little shed and kiln. It recently broke down and I was so depressed for days. All fixed now thank goodness, up and running for Christmas goodies!
Tell us about one handmade item that you own and love
I bought a drawing from Lightboxing on Etsy, which I absolutely adore. Check out her drawings!
What plans do you have for your shop in the future?
Plans for my shop are to stock more items in the next few weeks. I keep making and not listing, so that is my future goal.
